One of the most popular event of the annual Mysuru Dasara celebrations is the Aahara Mela or the Food Fair. Foodies can treat themselves to a wide range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisines, ranging from the traditional to the contemporary delights. The highlight of the food fair is the Tribal Food or food from the woods, produced from various tribal hamlets using a variety of roots and tubers grown in the forests, dishes made of green leaves and food items prepared using bamboo shoots. ‘Bamboo Biriyani’ and ‘Bamboo Rice Kheer’ prepared by tribals are usually in great demand. Apart from tribal delicacies, popular dishes such as Vegetable Biriyani, Davangere Benne Dose, Dharwad Peda, Pizza, Chinese dishes, spicy mouthwatering chats and a wide variety of juices and desserts can also be savoured.
The Ahaara Mela event will take place from September 29 to October 10. As part of the Dasara Festivities, this year too the Food Fair will be held at the Scouts and Guides grounds and also at the MUDA Grounds, adjacent to the Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel from 29-09-2019 to 10-10-2019.
At these two venues, from September 30th to October 10th, Nalapaka competition will be held from 11-30 am to 1 pm and SaviBhojana competition will be held from 3 pm to 4 pm. Winners will be awarded prizes, souvenirs and gift cards.
Participants who wish to participate in the Nalapaka Competition category are requested to register their names with C.
